A remote social game centered around mystery and survival. A group of Players are tasked to escape a maze before the Killer in disguise murders them.

Setup

As a remote social game, Malevolent Maze is played between the participants (the people playing the game, not to get confused with the “Player” role) through a communication software of their choice (e.g. Zoom, Discord, etc.).

At least five minutes before the game starts, the participant whose name comes first plays the role of the Moderator. The Moderator is tasked with laying out the maze in Miro, secretly assigning the role of Killer and guiding each Player during their turn.

The rest of the participants become Players who must escape the maze before the Killer gets them. The Players spend each of their turns blindly navigate the maze based on the directions provided by the Moderator. After each participant has their turn, they all form a group discussion sharing their progress in the maze and speculating the Killer’s identity.

The winning conditions are set between the Players and the Killer. The Players win if they escape the maze alive. The Killer wins if they manage to murder all the Players in the maze.
